Schiphol parking for summer 2027: the dates by region and when to book
The summer 2027 holiday dates, region by region
Summer is the busiest season at Schiphol’s car parks, and the school holidays decide which weekends fill up. These are the advisory dates on the Dutch government’s school holiday overview for 2026-27:
| Region | Holiday starts | Holiday ends |
|---|---|---|
| North | Saturday 10 July 2027 | Sunday 22 August 2027 |
| Middle | Saturday 17 July 2027 | Sunday 29 August 2027 |
| South | Saturday 24 July 2027 | Sunday 5 September 2027 |
Unlike Christmas or the May holiday, which every region takes in the same week, summer is staggered: each region starts a week after the previous one, and each holiday lasts six weeks. The four weeks from 24 July to 22 August are the only stretch when all three regions are on holiday together. The government sets these dates as advice to schools, which may choose their own, so check your child’s school guide before you book.
The busiest weekends at the car parks
Demand concentrates where a region’s holiday starts and ends. Expect the busiest departures on and just before Saturday 10, 17 and 24 July, and the busiest returns around Sunday 22 and 29 August and 5 September. Because the regions overlap, the weekends in late July and mid-August carry departures and returns from more than one region at once.
If your dates are flexible, a trip that starts or ends away from these weekends is easier to book and leaves more choice of car park.
Price your summer before you book
Our estimator shows an indicative total for every car park, from the terminal to off-site park and ride, for the exact times you fill in. These links open it with a region’s first two weeks filled in; change the times to your own flights:
- Region North, 10 to 24 July 2027
- Region Middle, 17 to 31 July 2027
- Region South, 24 July to 7 August 2027
The estimator’s prices are indicative “from” rates, not quotes. Real prices depend on how far ahead you book and on demand, and they tend to rise as a peak fills up.
Which car park suits a summer trip
A week or more away
For most summer holidays the length of the stay dominates the price. Terminal parking charges the same day rate however long you stay, while long-stay and off-site rates step down after a few days and again after a week, so a long-stay option (Smart Parking, P6 or P3) or off-site park and ride usually costs far less for two or three weeks. Our long-stay vs short-stay guide shows where the break-even lies.
Have a second choice ready
On the peak weekends the official long-stay car parks can be fully booked. If your first choice shows full for your date, P6 or an independent off-site operator is often still open; our checklist for booking independent parking covers what to check before you book one.
Allow time for the shuttle
Summer fills the shuttles, the security queues and the roads to the airport at the same time. Add roughly 30 minutes to your normal arrival plan on a peak weekend.
Book early, but book flexibly
- Book four weeks or more ahead. The cheapest pre-booked spaces go first in the peak weeks. Our guide to booking cheap Schiphol parking explains why.
- Read the cancellation terms. Summer trips are booked months ahead and plans change; a booking you can change or cancel is worth a little more.
- Match the booking to your flights, not the holiday. Add a margin on the return in case of delays, because overstaying can be charged at a higher rate.
- Electric car? Our EV charging guide lists where you can charge at Schiphol and which points cannot be reserved.
Planning the trip as a group
Summer trips are often planned with family or friends, and choosing where to stay usually takes longer than booking the parking. Our sister site VoteStay lets a group paste in the stays they like and vote head to head until one wins. Then put the dates into the estimator and book the parking to match.
