Schiphol parking for the Christmas and winter holidays 2026-27
Short version: Schiphol parking over the Christmas holidays is a two-week booking that every Dutch region makes at the same time. The 2026-27 Christmas holiday runs from 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 in all three school regions, and the spring holiday follows in February. Book as soon as your flights are fixed, pick a long-stay or off-site option for a trip of a week or more, and price your exact dates in the estimator before you pay. For the full Christmas fortnight, the indicative totals on this site run from about €128 off-site to more than €1,100 at the terminal.
The 2026-27 school holiday dates that drive demand
School holidays decide when Schiphol's car parks fill up. These are the advisory dates the Dutch government published for the 2026-27 school year, on the Rijksoverheid holiday overview:
| Holiday | Region North | Region Middle | Region South |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas holiday | 19 Dec 2026 to 3 Jan 2027 | 19 Dec 2026 to 3 Jan 2027 | 19 Dec 2026 to 3 Jan 2027 |
| Spring holiday | 20 to 28 Feb 2027 | 20 to 28 Feb 2027 | 13 to 21 Feb 2027 |
Two things stand out. The Christmas holiday is the same everywhere, so there is no staggering between regions to spread the demand. In February the South starts a week earlier than the North and Middle, which gives two busy weekends instead of one. These dates are advice to schools, which may set their own, so check your child's school guide before you book anything.
When the car parks are busiest
Demand concentrates where the holidays start and end. Expect the busiest departure days around Saturday 19 December and the days just before Christmas, and the busiest returns around Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January. In February, expect the same pattern around 13 February for the South and 20 February for the North and Middle. If your dates are flexible by a day or two, leaving midweek often means fewer people in the queue for the shuttle and at security.
What the Christmas fortnight costs, option by option
Using the indicative "from" rates in our estimator, a car parked from the morning of 19 December 2026 to the evening of 3 January 2027 is charged for 16 days. Cheapest first:
- Off-site park & ride: about €128, the lowest total, with a shuttle of around 15 to 20 minutes.
- Off-site valet or a park, sleep & fly hotel package: about €224.
- Schiphol Smart Parking: about €320, the cheapest official option.
- P6 Long Stay: about €416, and P3 Holiday Parking: about €448, both with a free shuttle.
- P1 Terminal Parking: about €1,104, and Schiphol Valet: about €1,280.
These are estimates from published "from" prices, not quotes: real prices depend on how far ahead you book and on demand, and they tend to rise as a peak fills up. Open the estimator with the Christmas dates filled in and change the times to your own flights. The same check for the North and Middle spring week is one click away: 20 to 28 February 2027.
Which car park suits a winter trip
A week or more away
For the full Christmas holiday, the length of the stay dominates the price. Terminal parking charges the same day rate however long you stay, while long-stay and off-site rates step down after a few days and again after a week. That is why the gap between P1 and P6 over 16 days is several hundred euros. Our long-stay vs short-stay guide works through the trade-off in detail.
Covered parking in winter
Coming back to a frozen or snow-covered car after a late-night flight is a real cost in time. If that matters to you, tick Covered parking in the estimator: it narrows the list to the options with a roof. Valet parking avoids the problem in a different way, because the car is brought to you.
Independent operators
Off-site park & ride, independent meet & greet and hotel packages are not sold on schiphol.nl. You book them with the operator or through a comparison site, and in a peak period the checks matter more: shuttle times on the day you return, where the keys go, the cancellation terms and the all-in price. Our checklist for booking independent parking covers each point.
Book early, but book flexibly
- Book as soon as your flights are fixed. Pre-booked rates are lower than the gate price, and the cheapest spaces go first in a peak. Our guide to booking cheap Schiphol parking explains why.
- Read the cancellation terms. Winter flights get rescheduled; a booking you can change or cancel is worth a little more.
- Match the booking to your flights, not the holiday. Add a margin on the return in case of delays, because overstaying can be charged at a higher rate.
- Keep the confirmation offline. Save it on your phone and note the car park and row; after two weeks away it is easy to forget.
Winter practicalities on the day
- Allow extra time. Snow, ice or rain slow the drive and the shuttle. Leave earlier than you would in summer, and check your flight status before you set off.
- Pack for the return. An ice scraper and a warm layer in the car make a cold evening arrival easier.
- Electric cars lose range in the cold. Arrive with a comfortable charge; our EV charging guide lists where you can charge at Schiphol and which points can't be reserved.
- Leave nothing valuable in sight. Two weeks is a long time for a car to stand in any car park.
Travelling as a family or a group
Christmas trips are often group trips, and the parking is usually the easy part. If you are still deciding where to stay with friends or family, our sister site VoteStay lets everyone paste the stays they like and vote head to head until one wins. Then put the dates into the estimator and book the parking to match.
Frequently asked questions
When is the Dutch Christmas holiday in 2026?
The advisory Christmas holiday for 2026-27 runs from 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 in all three regions (North, Middle and South). Schools may set their own dates.
How much does Schiphol parking cost over the Christmas holiday?
For 16 days from 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, indicative totals on this site range from about €128 for off-site park & ride and €320 for Schiphol Smart Parking to about €1,104 for P1 Terminal Parking. Real prices depend on when you book.
Which Schiphol car park is best for a two-week winter trip?
For two weeks, a long-stay option (Smart Parking, P6 or P3) or off-site park & ride is far cheaper than the terminal car park, because their daily rate drops for longer stays. Choose covered parking or valet if you want to avoid a frozen car on your return.
