Dropping off and picking up at Schiphol: Kiss & Ride, P1 and what it costs
Kiss & Ride: a free stop, not a waiting area
The Kiss & Ride zone sits right in front of the Departures hall. It is free and you do not need a reservation, but Schiphol is clear about what it is for: the only thing allowed there is letting passengers out and unloading their luggage. Parking is not permitted, and Schiphol warns that staying longer can result in a fine.
In practice that means a goodbye at the kerb. If you want to walk your passengers in, help with check-in or have a coffee together first, Kiss & Ride is the wrong place.
P1 Pick-up & Drop-off: when you need more time
For anything longer than a quick stop, Schiphol points drivers to P1 Pick-up & Drop-off. It has more than 3,900 spaces on two floors, part of it covered, with camera surveillance and charging points for electric cars on the second floor (rows 206 and 207). You can drive in without a reservation, and the walk to Schiphol Plaza and the arrival halls takes 2 to 6 minutes, with a covered route to the departure hall.
These are the drive-up rates Schiphol listed on 24 October 2026:
| How long | Price |
|---|---|
| Per 20 minutes | 2.70 euros |
| Up to 24 hours | 59.50 euros |
| 24 to 48 hours | 119 euros |
| After 48 hours | 100 euros per extra day |
For a pick-up, that works out at 2.70 euros for a 20-minute wait, 8.10 euros for an hour and 16.20 euros for two. A delayed flight is what makes a pick-up expensive, so check the arrival time before you set off.
Picking someone up, step by step
- Check the flight before you leave. Schiphol’s flight information and app show the expected arrival time, which moves with delays.
- Drive to P1 Pick-up & Drop-off. For navigation, Schiphol gives the address Ceintuurbaan Zuid, Schiphol, Haarlemmermeer.
- Time your walk. If you want to welcome someone in the Arrivals hall, be there shortly after the plane has landed; passport control and baggage reclaim still take time after that.
- Or agree on a meeting place. The meeting point and the cafes on Schiphol Plaza are easy to find for both of you, and give you somewhere to wait.
Dropping someone off for a flight
A quick drop-off at Kiss & Ride costs nothing. When to arrive depends on the flight: Schiphol advises checking the airline’s own advice, and its crowd-levels page shows how busy the airport is expected to be. If your passengers are going for a week or more and you are driving them, compare that with leaving their own car: our parking estimator shows an indicative total for every car park, and the long-stay vs short-stay guide explains which suits which trip.
Taxi and other options
A taxi can drop passengers right outside the departure halls and pick them up outside the arrival halls and Schiphol Plaza, and the driver helps with the luggage. If you are collecting a group of friends for a few days away and still have to agree where to stay, our sister site VoteStay lets everyone paste in the places they like and vote until one wins.
